Now, I'll be the first one to admit their stuff is a bit on the pricey side for cosmetics. HOWEVER, you have to remember: you're paying for good quality stuff, people. It's professional makeup, that is somewhat affordable, as opposed to dropping $30+ on let's say...Dior mascara (*coughs* which I have done in the past, BUT - it's justified by the fact that I work at Shoppers Drug Mart and without my discount, I wouldn't have bought it! I swear!!).
One of the main things that I love about MAC is their wide variety of products and colours. Every time I'm there I just love to stare at the lipsticks or eye shadows sitting out in their displays, because they look so pretty staring back at you. Their eye shadow comes in just about every colour you could imagine, and my favourites are the purples and neutrals (creams, browns, golds). I'm pretty sure I own just about every colour they have come out with...
MAC releases tons of limited edition collections, which I am always a sucker for. The stuff gets snatched up quickly, so you have to move fast. Usually the collections will include a few lipsticks, lip glosses, eye shadows and maybe a blush or something for the face. I can never look at those either without buying at least one thing - I'm terrible!
I just love the
quality of MAC products. The stuff stays put. And it's so light that you never feel like you're wearing makeup. I'm the type of person who doesn't like a caked-on feeling, and their powders are really good for that. My personal favourite products for the face are the natural Mineralized Skin Finishes (or, as MAC Addicts like myself call them, 'MSFs'). They're a special baked formula and go on light and smooth. MAC makes normal Mineralized Skin Finishes (which are just a coloured powder that you can use as a bronzer, highlighter, eye shadow, etc. to give your face an overall glow) as well, but those are usually only released once and a while with limited edition collections. They are probably one of their best sellers, in part because they are so rare (up until recently, they were only released with limited edition collections) and because people love them. I think I own about 15 of them (to the left is a picture I took of a couple of mine)...I have a problem...but I'm not alone! I post on MAC message boards on a regular basis and there's TONS of people out there who are just as hooked as I am. We actually all call ourselves MAC Addicts. It's kind of the coined-term. HOWEVER - I know there's people out there who are much more obsessed than me, and to anyone who knows how much MAC stuff I own, that says a lot.
Oh well, I could spend my money on a lot worse. Plus, I love the versatility of makeup. :)
